Trip Report Jan 14-20 from a Newbie :)

WEll we left Grande Prairie, AB Canada on Jan 14 (WED) we were up at 6, at the airport at 7 and flew out at 9. Our flight was long and very very tiring LOL... we were supposed to have a 3 hr wait in san fransisco... we were delayed another 3 hours :( We were scheduled to arrive in LV at 5pm and ended up arriving at 10:30 :(

We were very exhausted and tierd so we took our cab to the MGM, checked in quickly, asked for a ';strip view'; room if possible... NO PROBLEM!! :) yay!!

We arrived in our room... very nice. Not tooooo fancy, but just right :) Large bathroom which i loved... and very very comfy beds :)

we headed down to the casino and found the players club booth... and blew $200 in the slots... retired around 12:30. Was disappointed with the strip view as the windows were filthy and you could see a whole bunch of colored spots LOL... but what do you get for $59 / night ??

Trip Report Jan 14-20 from a Newbie :)

Day 2 :)

Woke up around 7 went downstairs and headed out for the strip :) Weather was nice out... from leaving -40 to wearing a tshirt and capri pants was nice, we walked to NYNY and were heading over to Mandalay bay but got distracted LOL...

we went to the M%26amp;M shop and saw the tix 4 tonight booth and picked up some tickets to see Wayne Brady for that night (Thurs). We walked up and down the strip most of the day, just checking out the different casinos and see what was going on. Had thought to myself that it wasn%26#39;t very busy on the strip but was told on TA that during the week is pretty slow.

had lunch at Nathans best :) Played some more slots. Was supposed to meet some people from TA at Bills (Big Elvis) at 4:30 but my cousin wasn%26#39;t up for it :( so we just kept checking things out... sorry guys, i wanted to go :(

Big Elvis is one of the many things i wanted to see my first trip to LV but sadly never did get to see him :(

We headed back to the hotel around 5 to have supper and get ready for the Wayne Brady show. It was at the venetian and thought that since we were not familiar with the monorail we would give ourselves some extra time and try it out.

I should have skipped supper because it did NOT agree with me :( I was cramping up and sick just before wayne brady but was not missing it!!

We started watching the Wayne Brady show and about 1/2 way through i was feeling better :) yay!!

He was HILLARIOUS!! If you get a chance to go and you like improv... see him!!

we then walked back down the strip the the Bellagio to see the fountains.... nice :)

back to the hotel and off to bed :(

I would have liked to sit in a lounge and have a drink or two...enjoy Vegas a bit, but NOPE :(

congrats on your first trip to vegas. the trip sounds good so far. am curious what/where you had supper that didn%26#39;t agree with you.

And glad to hear that Wayne Brady was enjoyable. Have always wondered about him. I loved ';Who%26#39;s line is it anyways?';, but really didn%26#39;t like his own talk show. good to know that the show was fun :)

i ate at the little cafe in the MGM... had a grilled chicken ceasar salad. should have known better... sometimes ceaser salad does bad things to me LOL :)

Wayne Brady was great!! he had almost the whole show audience participation, and sang a lot... which i liked. It was all ';made up songs'; while people yelled out suggestionsLOL :) VERY GOOD, highly recommended.

Day 3 :)

Again we started out walking the strip :) made it to the tix4tonight booth and decided on the Beatles Love show for the 9:30 performance.

we didn%26#39;t do much this day either other than walking around and looking at all the hotels, and what they had to offer. We did have a breadfast buffet.... hmmmm..... i think it was at the mirage, but i don%26#39;t really remember LOL

we played %26#39;some%26#39; slots but not tooo much... we were on a budget LOL... we had roughly $250/ day for everything, gambling, food, shows, and anything else (shopping) so we were watching the wallet.

I wanted to go the Mac King show as we were given free tickets but my cousin didn%26#39;t feel up to it so we didn%26#39;t go :(

we went back to the hotel, had some Mc Donalds or something???

went to see LOVE at the Mirage.

hmmmm.... it was ..... interesting. Im sure in someones ';screwed up mind'; it had a story??? i think it just wansn%26#39;t what i expected. I didn%26#39;t hate it but i really didn%26#39;t care for it either :(

but it was an experience so..... yay

back to the hotel to bed....

see a pattern yet??

Nice report- next time leave your cousin at home, LOL! You missed a good show with Mac King. I am not a cirque fan, but I did like Love. The theme is basically what was going on history through the years that the Beatles music was headlining. I really liked that show, and the music was fantastic, IMO.

I don%26#39;t actually think there are very many rooms at MGM with a good strip view. I would rather have a high room overlooking the east valley. The last time we were there we had a Hollywood suite. Those are at the very end of the hall, so you have windows on all sides of the column. One window overlooked the taxi drop off, another Hooters, and the third overlooked the top of the Monorail. Probably the worse view we have had in Vegas, but - the best room and it was worth the bad view!

Day 4

Well this brings us up to saturday... HOLY does the strip get busy on the weekends LOL

that is what i was expecting :)

we were going to head to the outlet mall today but looking through a book i noticed that the ';price is right'; was dark on sun, mon so the only day we could go was today, so change of plans... we can shop tomorrow!!

so we went to ballys for the price is right.... as corny as it is... it was a blast... FINALLY we had our first drink!! a stawberry dacqueri (spelt?) it was sooooo yummy...should have had more... but... my cousin isn%26#39;t much of a drinker :( Im not either but could have had more of those LOL ;) they put whipped cream on the top!!! YUMMY!!

did not get called for the price is right but it was sooo fun anyways!!

after that we decided to head back to the hotel and do the MGM buffet for dinner.

$60 for 2 of us??? eeeshhh... but it was really good!!!

only complaint is i ate way toooooooo much... trying to eat $30 worth of food to make it feel worth it is not worth it LOL :)

well this was our ';gambling night'; we had $60 each in our pocket and played until 12:30 we started around 4:30??? we did well.... well i did better than her but we were able to play for hours!!!

I went upstairs with $1000 and she lost her $60 + a bank machine withdrawl of???? after 8 hours of playing... all in all a great night :)

i loved the room...view or not. i like beatles music but expected more??

oh well.... i think i really would have liked %26#39;O%26#39; next time maybe :)

given free tickets but my cousin didn%26#39;t feel up to it so we didn%26#39;t go :(2 times)

Boy i hope you cousin is more fun then that. Good trip report.

Day 5 Sunday :)- our last ';full day of our trip';

We get up, have some breakfast... or lunch LOL...pizza :)

OH---*** i forgot to mention we saw the volcano outside the Mirage !! awesome!!! i loved it :) and the pirate show at TI was OK too... that was a night or 2 ago... they all blend in... should have kept a journal

took a little walk to figure out where to buy Deuce tickets ;) you can buy them on the bus, we were not that smart to figure that out.

took a short drive to the ';outlet mall'; did a little shopping, a couple pairs of jeans, some souvineers, my cousin bought some clothes and some watches.

all in all a good trip :)

we ended up talking to a couple from ottawa Can. on the deuce... who talked me into entering a poker tournement. i should say i was coming to vegas and the ONE thing i wanted to do was enter a poker tourney :) I was sooooo scared too and kept chickening out. I would walk up to the poker room and turn right around. I even had people on TA telling me i would regret it if i didn%26#39;t give it a shot....

so shaking uncontrollably and sweating to death i paid my $80 entry fee to the MGM poker room and sat at a tourney table.

I should warn you ...i have NEVER played outside of the internet for $20 here and there and never outside of family and only then has it been 2 times LOL

so i just didn%26#39;t want to get kicked out in 1st :)

there were rebuys available but still.....don%26#39;t get kicked out!!!!

well holy ^$%$ i made the final table... and at the final 6 players (it paid top 6) we decided to chop the pot.

I won $500 yay me!!!

Highlight of the trip!!!

well... head to bed we have to leave tomorrow :(

Day 6 heading home :(

flight is not until 1:30 pm but was up at 6:30 called the players club # to see if i was eligible for anything??? 1 $99/ night+taxes COMPED...yep comped... me yay!!! :)

i was sooo excited :)

went to pay my hotel bill.... after whole trip was said and done i had taken $1500 for spending... that is food, hotel room, shopping, shows and gambling.

I came home with $1200 YAY!!

here is the horror.... we pay the bill and i thought we would have breakfast at the hotel, do some last minute stuff, head to the airport around 11 or so??

NOPE... at the airport at 8!!! couldn%26#39;t even check in our bags until 11!!!!

eeeeeshhhh...

finally get to the gate, and hear my name called to meet agent at gate.

turns out we will not make our connection :( due to a delay :(

so we will fly to Vancouver, then be RE routed to Calgary, and put up for the night :(

fly out to Gp in the morning :(

eeeeeshhhhh..... and to top if off on monday i got SICK.... soar ears, throat, neck, congestion, and just plain feeling ucky :(

but oh well
