extra tax on hotel rooms

I have been trying to book a hotel room in March for 1 night and have found a few which have added a government tax %26amp; recovery charge. what is this, and does every hotel add this to there rates?

Where are you booking? I mean, you are going to have to pay taxes on the room (I believe 9% for the strip) but a ';recovery charge'; sounds like a third party travel site term.

I didn%26#39;t write down the name of the two hotels that had this charge but they were on the strip and the charge was close to $60. and now that I%26#39;m looking at different sites, maybe a third party charge is correct. I did find better rates without that charge. I just never had heard this call government tax and recover charge. I%26#39;ll pay an extra hotel charge but $60 was a bit much. Thanks for your help.

Leo%26#39;s right you were probably looking at a 3rd party site. Don%26#39;t forget anyone who touches any product has to make a profit somehow.

But there is one thing you have to look out for in LV hotels, and that is a Resort Fee. This can be anywhere from $5 to $20 per night. So make sure you check the fine print.
