My future wife and i are going on our honeymoon in sept/oct 09. We are visiting a few places but along the way we want to get from Vegas to San Fran. Booking with a travel company looks to be saving us money, but the flight from Vegas to San Fran is proving to be expensive(£400)! I was wondering would it be better to either drive or maybe get the train. Hopefully this would save us money. Obviously it would take us longer, but how much longer? And also is it worth doing?
Many thanks
Las Vegas to San Fransisco
Check Southwest airlines website to either San fran. or Oakland ,only a 5 dollar subway ride from Oakland to San Fran.
Las Vegas to San Fransisco
Being on a honeymoon and missing one of the best drives in the country re. Las Vegas-Death Valley NP-us395-Tioga Pass-Yosemite NP-San Francisco? Yes, it will take 3-4 days with the visits and overnight stays but if you can find time for it, just go. Ortherwise..fly, because it%26#39;s an 1.5 days drive directly to San Francisco and not a very exciting one.
Congrats on your uncoming marriage and happy travels.
Tet
I agree completely with TET. We did this drive last summer. It was a wonderful drive. Stayed in Bishop and then Yosemite NP. Fantastic Trip!
If you do decide to fly then you do not need to pay anything like £400 for LAS-SFO, even if you mean return for 2 people. Virgin America is probably the highest rated carrier on that route. I paid $118 for a return flight last April.
Southwest will have more flights and are likely to be less expensive. You need to shop around but do not pay £400!
