monorail

Is riding the monorail relatively safe for a woman traveling alone or is it best to take a taxi?

How much is it to ride from MGM to Harrah%26#39;s and is it in opperation now? When I was there in 2006, it was opened until my date to arrive. They shut it down for some time. Hoping by now it is in full opperation. Thanks.

I%26#39;m not a regular user but on the occasions I%26#39;ve ridden the monorail I%26#39;ve always had the impression it was pretty safe. It%26#39;s running a full normal service.

Fares are on the website.

Vegas is safe. I rode the deuce alone and never felt unsafe. You%26#39;ll be safe on the monorail. Can%26#39;t remember how much it is. I would go again by myself, get to do whatever you want whenever you want. I loved it when I went last year. There%26#39;s always people around.

www.lvmonorail.com will give you info.

Thanks you all for your replies.

Yes this will be the first time I%26#39;m alone in Vegas. But that is my reason for going. Getting to do what I want to do and at the time I want to it. lol Was here twice with boyfriend. It was nice with company, but I think it will be nice just with myself. Thanks for the info and I did check into the website.

$5 for single ride, $12 for one day and $28 for 3 days for anyone else who%26#39;s interested.

I%26#39;ve gone alone many times and it was fine, as was the Deuce. No need for a cab if you don%26#39;t want to use one.

Just use common sense. Ex. If I was the sole woman in a car on the monorail and a load of guys got on at a stop that looked a bit out of it, maybe I%26#39;d exit and wait for the next monorail to arrive in a few minutes. It doesn%26#39;t cost any extra to do that. So far I%26#39;ve never had something like that happen.

It%26#39;s safe. Criminals don%26#39;t want to pay just to stand on the platforms, lol.

If you can make a plan to use it several times it can be very cost effective. I usually use the 24 hour pass multiple times to save bucks. I just plan what I want to do around that.

The 24 hr pass is the easiest. For my next trip, I plan the 3 day pass for the deuce. That could be a show in itself, depending on time/day. Have fun, it%26#39;s great to be solo. At least I think so.

It is safe as is most of Vegas- strip, off strip and downtown. I frequently go alone (female) and I have never had any problems anywhere- day or night.

However- I think the monorail is a complete waste of time unless you are going from a southern casino to the Sahara, Conevention Center or the Hilton. I took it when it was free and only connected Bally%26#39;s to MGM and I thought it would have been faster just to walk(which is what I did on the way back even though it was during the summer). Some of the stations are set so far back from the strip it is a hike to get to them. I know people won%26#39;t agree with me (sorry, Low) but that is my opinion. The monorail has not been a success because of poor planning.

I also do not use the monorail because of the incovenience of it being set so far in the backs of the hotels and for two or more people it%26#39;s usually as cheap or cheaper to share a cab and much faster with much less walking involved. For one person, it%26#39;s probably cost effective.

Thank you all again for your opinions. I think I am going to get that 1 day pass. Stayin at the Paris, but I want to go to the Hilton and maybe Sahara and I won%26#39;t walk that far. I%26#39;m sure taxi is expensive to go that far + tip.

Besides, a lot of people like to think the monorail is like a thrill ride at a theme park, right? LOL Seems like the most reasonable price for a thrill ride here in Vegas. lol

Thanks again.

I have ridden the monorail many times by myself, no problems at all. I love that way of getting around in Vegas.
