Stupid tipping question

Ok I know it%26#39;s common practice just about everywhere to tip the valet guy as well as your taxi/limo/car driver...but what about the Enterprise rent-a-car guy who comes to pick you up at the hotel to take you to the car rental office?

Don%26#39;t get me wrong, I don%26#39;t mind tipping and am not a cheap tipper. We just don%26#39;t rent cars very often so are not sure what is expected for this particular situation (especially in Laughlin where it may be common practice to tip someone that you may not normally be expected to tip back home.)

Thanks.

Stupid tipping question

LV, and by association Laughlin, runs on tips. When in doubt tip anyway. Especially of the driver is friendly, courteous or helpful. $5 would not be out of order. Rare to have a tip refused. You never know too when it might result in an upgrade opportunity, especially in this case where they might not get tipped as often.

Stupid tipping question

My wife works at prime rib room and really appreciates any tips. The worst tippers are the snow birds who come here from nov to april.

Thanks for the ';tips';! I figured in a place like Laughlin it is probably best to err on the side of tipping if in doubt. Just thought I should ask though since in some places (more notably overseas) tipping the ';wrong'; person can be seen as an insult and/or the beginning of a new practice that the locals do not appreciate (ie, now they are obligated to tip someone they didn%26#39;t have to tip before.)

Yes, sadly many of my fellow midwesterners are known to be poor tippers, especially some of the older folks. They%26#39;ve just finally gotten used to 15% when the rest of the world has moved on to 20!

We have wondered if a lot of people don%26#39;t tip very well or even at all for drinks in the casinos. We usually tip $1 per drink to the cocktail waitresses, and we can%26#39;t believe how often they come around once they realize we tip halfway decent. We aren%26#39;t rolling in money, but figure if we are lucky enough to be there, we can at least help out the people who depend on tips for their living. They work hard for that money!

Thanks boater kathy......as my wife makes only 7.50 an hour any tips are really appreciated....And the low pay scales are at every casino on the river here for the average worker. No unions here or better pay scales like the vegas casinos. Slot rep job at vegas for example at vegas club starts at 9.50 an hour......here it starts between 7-7.50......So when i was working Pioneer and someone offered me the twenty dollar trick for an upgrade you better believe they got the best room i could give them. lol

We tip everyone since I know that it%26#39;s hard time for everyone, so if I can gamble than I should be able to tip also.

Hear hear!

How much should valet folks be tipped each time they bring up the car?

On the question of how much to tip a valet when arriving. I always tip $10 when i have MY vehicle being parked, MINIMUM. it guarantees that they will take care of it and if i don%26#39;t want to wait 10 minutes to get my car back when i leave, i hand the guy a $20 and say, ';I%26#39;m going in to meet some people. Can you leave this out for me?';

That usually guarantees that my car is sitting within 40 feet of the front door when i come back out.

Just my thoughts.

If you tipped me thirty i would wash it too! Standard tip is one or two bucks in.....one or two bucks out. They usually pool the tips. A family friend works at trop at valet and he really rakes in the coin.
