Hi Guys,
Me and my Girlfriend are visiting Vegas as part of our round the world trip in April. i have already been to Vegas 4 years ago but stayed off the strip. Am wanting to stay on the strip this time and noticed that 4 nights Twr delux room at the Stratosphere comes in at $197 on www.vegas.com. Just wondering if this website is reliable and trustworthy. any ideas or advice would be welcomed
Booking with Vegas.com?? is this wise? They are reputable and I know people who have used them with no issues. However, the problem with third party sites is that they have rooms to move and don%26#39;t clue you into negatives on the rooms or properties they are pushing and make it hard to get a refund if you have second thoughts. In this case, yes, technically, the Strat is a strip property but it is far removed from everything else. The money you may save staying there will be eaten up in extra transportation costs and time.
If I were you, I would consult a map. Then I would book direct so that you have the right to cancel and book elsewhere if you find a better deal.
Booking with Vegas.com?? is this wise?It%26#39;s as good as they come. Every bit as good as Expedia, Orbitz, etc... I would do a lot of research though. You can often times save money by booking directly through the hotel and airline separately. The other advantage booking your room through the hotel direct is that if the rate drops, you can get the lower rate (if you ask for it that is). Whereas if you book through a .com travel site you are locked in to what you paid.
Good luck and have a great time!
It is a genuine site that friends of mine have used before. Look into their Price Promise. They say that they%26#39;ll double the difference of any price found on another public website for your same dates/location.
First of all I strongly recommend that if you want to be on the Strip you stay at a hotel more centrally located. You%26#39;ll waste cash and time getting to and from anywhere if you stay at the Strat.
vegas.com is reputable and you won%26#39;t have a problem with them. However should you use any third party site to book a hotel you%26#39;ll be locked into the rates you pay. Book direct with a hotel and you can take advantage if rates come down before your trip. Check out this site:

No, it is never wise to book a Las Vegas hotel through ANY 3rd party, for reasons others will explain. PERIOD.
I also strongly recommend that you do not stay at Stratosphere. The location of Strat is actually worse than that of many of the off-strip hotels. It%26#39;s not as if you are going to save $40-$50 per night over staying somewhere else. Take my word for it, spending a few extra dollars will greatly enhance your LV experience.

Why not? Isn%26#39;t the bottom line all about price? I guess you are going to get a set room but who cares? You can still ask for an upgrade. I realize you can%26#39;t back out once you click %26#39;submit%26#39; but I can%26#39;t say that I have ever booked anything without the full intention of going.
I have booked directly through hotels and through the likes of Expedia and Travelocity. If fact the best %26#39;deal%26#39; I%26#39;ve ever received on one of my Vegas excursions was through Travelocity.
The wife and I are headed to Vegas again and are finding a particular site that is booking cheaper trips then any promo code and airline deal you can piece together. The numbers don%26#39;t lie. Here%26#39;s my current example...
3 nights @ Planet Hollywood including RT airfare for 2 (from MSP) AFTER taxes and fees = $650. Both room and air 3rd party.
Now airfare ALONE from MSP to LAS for the same days has been no less then $580 (for 2 after taxes).
You find me a code that gets me 3 nights @ PH for less then $70 total.
So to sum up... IN THIS SITUATION... 3rd party is better.
Stratosphere is on the strip, yes, but it%26#39;s wayyyyy on the north side. You%26#39;d be best to book something more central on the strip. Even south strip would allow you to casino hop more easily.

absolutely not true.
for non-gamblers or those not returning any time soon it may be the best price. Of course the T%26#39;s %26amp; C%26#39;s have to be acceptable to the guest.
Many times a package thrugh an airlines TA with airfare is much better from my market, especially when booked with short notice, when airfare deals may not otherwise be great.
If looking only for lodging use third party websites for research and then call the property and ask if they will match the price, most of the time they will.
The biggest advantage to booking directly with the hotel is being able to cxl or change res as needed, including price if it drops.
To make a blanket statement saying never and ANY is irresponsible.
The Strat is a mediocre property with a not great location.
what are your exact dates and budget for hotel?
The Stratosphere is on the Strip to an extent but it is away from the main focal points of The Strip so if possible it is worth exploring other hotels IMHO but that said, it is a fne hotel in its own right it just depends on the location in the city you want to stay. This map will give you an idea of where it is in relation to the other hotels;

Thanks for all the replys, i have looked at booking at the stratospheres website itself and found it to be cheaper. We are staying in Vegas for 4 nights from Saturday 25th April. We priced up spending 3 nights in the stratosphere and our last night in the luxor (gf wants to stay in a pyramid). Those 4 nights came out at $206 in total inc taxes etc. That ia about the budget we are wanting to pay. any other ideas around those prices would be great guys????
