Comfortable beds

I%26#39;m not directing this at any particular person or any particular trip report, but I hear it over and over again...';the beds were great...to die for...so comfortable...';

Do you all have really uncomfortable beds at home? And if so, why? Even in the nicest places I often hate the bed - it%26#39;s just not ';mine';. Add in strange noises, etc. and I%26#39;m often not comfortable in hotels, as much as I love to travel.

Comfortable beds

Hotel beds are often too hard for me. I like the beds in the renovated part of Harrah%26#39;s. Also, Palazzo and Venetian have nice beds.

Comfortable beds

Warmwinds, funny post. People spend 2/3 of their lives in their beds, that%26#39;s why we spent so much on ours. I do think the ';resort experience'; pushes beds alot. Mattress, pillows and linens especially are probably higher quality than most people are used to.

LOL, Warmwinds, I%26#39;m one of those that has mentioned comfortable beds, I do have the comfiest bed at home and also am uncomfortable in most hotels (usually a very restless sleep for me). But honestly, I must say that Harrah%26#39;s does have very comfortable beds, I usually have a wonderful sleep.

Either that or I%26#39;m so tired when I do go to bed that I%26#39;m almost asleep when my head hits the pillow!!

Another consideration in Vegas is that some people don%26#39;t sleep as well because they, ahem, drinks a bit.

I used to have a regular mattress at home until I spent 5 nights in one of the suites at the CP Hotel Vancouver in the 80s. I didn%26#39;t realise they made beds that comfortable. I should have asked who supplied it so that I could have imported one to the UK.

Right after I got back I went mattress shopping, and never looked back.

Marriott and Hyatt (and Hilton I think) have spent millions on researching the perfect bed and upgrading their rooms. You can even buy their beds and bedding for your own home.

I only sleep about 5 hours per night, but I want quality sleep. A couple of nights in a bad bed really starts to affect me.

Last year I stayed in a million dollar suite overlooking the Gold Coast in Australia. The view was fantastic, the furnishings were all designer until you got to the bedrooms where they had $200 beds. I don%26#39;t understand how someone can spend more on a dining table than the bed.

I love to stay in hotels. And yes, their beds and furniture are usually nicer than what I have at home. I also feel safer in Vegas hotels than I do in my home due to the fact that Orlando%26#39;s crime rate has risen drastically and the laws and law enforcement stink in this town and state but this is where my job is and I will have to live here until I retire. Buying new furnishings for my house are just not a priority right now.

I am a comfie bed poster!! Yes I have a really nice bed at home, but I do find it very hard to sleep in Vegas with all the dinging and jackpot winning in my head. I did find TIs bed to be more sleep promoting and closer to my bed at home.

Now that everyone is talking about Harrahs new beds I cannot wait until next month!!!

my bed at home is pretty comfortable, and we%26#39;re used to it, but not as nice as some of the better hotels I%26#39;ve stayed at. It%26#39;s 10 years old, time for a new one, but I keep spending any extra $$ on Vegas weekends. I%26#39;ve gotta stop and start renovating the house!

Oh I have all the trimmings an my bed at home...a pillow top mattress AND a memory foam topper with another pillow top mattress cover over that! (Back problems!) So when I am in a hotel it is VERY important to me to have a comfortable bed! I stayed at the Stat once and their bed about broke my back! Hard as a rock!(I think I saw where thay may have gotten some new beds recently though)

IMO, Palazzo has the best!

I agree Warmwinds, there%26#39;s no place like home. For me, bed + pillow is the magic combination. While the beds at the hotels I%26#39;ve stayed at are quite comfy (not too firm, not too soft...heh, beginning to sound like Goldilocks), the pillows end up being the pivotal element for a restful sleep. Too small (like decorator pillows, ugh), too much (or too little) down, no foam pillows...if the pillow isn%26#39;t right then it could be a restless night.
