Last year I took my Mom to Las Vegas around Christmas, we stayed at Harrahs. She got a lot of offers from them over the year and received some great offers for Christmas. I stayed at the Flamingo 3-4 years ago in one of their bigger deluxe rooms and thought it was pretty nice, so when she could get 5 nights free at the Flamingo I said go for it!
Well we got to the Flamingo around 6pm on Sunday night. They gave us a room on the 8th floor. We went up to the room and were a little dissapointed in how dirty (food crumbs on the floor) it was but it wasn%26#39;t that bad. That is until I went into the bathroom. I turned the light and started putting away my stuff when I felt a drip of water on my head! I look up and there is a bubble of water about 2 foot around holding back a puddle of water! Something in the upstairs bathroom was overflowing!
I immediately called the front desk and told them they had a big problem and I would need a new room.
They said a bellperson would meet us at room 28195. So we hike all the way across the hotel and up to the 28th floor .These are where the GO rooms are so I thought great we will get one of those rooms but no we keep walking past them to an older part of the hotel. So we finally get to the room but it doesn%26#39;t have a room number on it, but its between 193 and 197. The bell person sticks the key in the door and opens it. I walk in and its a huge suite and again I am thinking we are going to get a really nice room for the hassle. But no, this room is occupied!!!!
The T.V. is on there is food drinks and clothes all over the place!! What the Hell!!
The Bell Person doesn%26#39;t have a clue whats going on, so me and my mom who is almost 70 have to go all the way back down to the front desk with our luggage and see whats going on.
They apologize again and give us another room on the 27th floor. This time I leave my luggage and tell my Mom to wait while I go make sure its ready and acceptable. I go up to the 27th floor and to the room. I open the door and this room is either still occupied or has not been maid up. The beds are all a mess!!
So I go back down to the front desk and tell them, this room is not ready to be occupied. So they look for another room. I tell the lady at the front desk that they need to go up there themselves and make sure it is ready. 15 minutes later she comes back and says it OK. We go up to that room on the 27th floor and finally get an acceptable room.
Unbelievable!! They did give us a 30 dollar room credit. I am not greedy but you would think after all of that screwing around the would have put us in a GO room or a nice suite.
They barely apologized for the run around. Maybe it happens all the time and its no big deal?
The room was old but mostly clean. One thing that was noticeable was the dust on the tile floorboards in the bathroom. It was a 1/4 inch thick. Do they ever do a thorough cleaning, not just the usual quick pick up?
Another issue was the Security or lack of it. Our room was near the elevators back by the restaraunts and the habitat. They dont have a guard there checking for keys because every night in the little observation area near the elevators there were people sleeping on the chairs there. Sometimes they would pull the chairs together to make a couch. I am pretty sure they were homeless people because they had their coats and hats on and they usually had a duffle bag with them. After 2-3 nights of that I finally went and told the Front Desk that they need to send security up there at night to check it out.
I always thought the Flamingo was a older place but nice.Not anymore. I will avoid it and not reccomend it.

Sorry to hear about all the problems. It sounds to me however that you were a little too passive about it all. A little stronger complaining (and this certainly sounds warranted) may have gotten you a little more satisfaction. Had I suffered all the fun and games when switching rooms that you had then I certainly wouldn%26#39;t have stood for thick dust anywhere in my new room. And why wait a few nights before raising the security issues regarding the elevators?
Anyway I am really sorry for you and for your mom. Hopefully this won%26#39;t put you guys off of visiting Vegas in the future.
If you were to read the last 200 reviews for the Falimingo(deluxe rooms) here on TA there is ALOT of similar reviews to yours about them. This has been going on for over 2 years and Harrahs entertainment dosen%26#39;t do anything about it. Scary.

Sorry to hear that you had such bad luck with Flamingo, I guess we%26#39;ve been lucky in the past when we stayed there.
Sorry about your problems with the hotel. I%26#39;ll only stay at Flamingo if it%26#39;s free and I%26#39;m really desperate, but I%26#39;ve also found their customer service to be excellent.

Wow! We%26#39;ve stayed at Flamingo numerous times and each and every time the Go Room has been impeccably clean at check-in and maintained very nicely by housekeeping on a daily basis.
Ive never had any issues at the other Harrah%26#39;s properties (Paris and Caesar%26#39;s) either. Believe me, if I had, I wouldnt have stayed there so many times! Somebody really slipped up big time, so sorry that You and Your Mom had such a bad experience.
I agree they should have given you an upgraded room along with something much more substantial than a measly $30 room credit. Free Show tix to Donny %26amp; Marie could have been offered, or a gift certificate, a voucher for dining at one of their nice restaurants, etc. I would definitely write their hotel manager about your experience.

Hi there we got had the same problems with our room but we had ants 3 different rooms i made a report on here about it so this does not surprise me at all.We will never stay there ever again the place has no customer service when they screw you around
