Thinking about booking a trip to grand canyon and am wondering if people usually experience motion sickness. I know everone is different, I would just like to hear people%26#39;s experiences-good or bad. Thanks!!
Helicopter ride %26amp; Motion sickness
I haven%26#39;t done it over the GC, but we did do it in Kauai last year - without doors! I was a little worried, but there was actually no motion sickness for any of us - and I have girls who get an upset stomach when they get in the backseat of my car.........
Helicopter ride %26amp; Motion sickness
I%26#39;ve had my fair share of motion sickness before but was fine on the helicopter trip we did to the Grand Canyon in August last year. It did get a bit bumpy in places but I was far too distracted by the amazing scenery out the window to even think about feeling sick.
I am really glad to hear this, I am going to book with Papillon because of the great reviews on this forum. It will be a surprise for my husband. Now I just have to overcome my fear of heights!!!! I think it will be well worth it though. I am very excited.
It%26#39;s funny - I am afraid of heights also but it was never a problem in the helicopter.
Good to hear!
DH flies in small fixed wing aircraft for his job and has had problems with motion sickness. However, when he started flying in helicopters he just raved about how much better they were on him, no problems at all (and the flights he does are crazy ones in the Rockies)! You%26#39;ll be just fine! I would suggest that you limit your alcohol intake before the flight, stay hydrated, and bring some small candies like lifesavers that you can suck on.
Thanks, good advice. Plan on going first thing in the morning, so I can probably resist drinking beforehand- probably!
I know this is long since the 2005 date posted, but!
I am scared terrified of heights... and things 8 to 10 feet high. I had to have them stop the ferris wheel at the fair a couple of years ago. Quite embarrassing! I cried it was a horrid mess. Going to hawaii and so desire to take the helicopter tour in Kauai!!! They said they would take me up and straight down to see. However, I still have to pay the 200.00 no matter what. FAIR!!!! Can you describe your experience. PlEASE!!!
S.C Hawaii Bound!!!
You might try posting your inquiry in the Hawaii forum instead of trying to revive this thread. As for the Grand Canyon, yes, folks who are prone to motion sickness are well advised to choose helicopters over airplanes, plus try to fly in the morning as afternoons tend to get windy.
