I%26#39;ve just got back from 12 days of heaven in LV%26#39;s, but i was shocked this visit by the amount of kids that where there this time running all over the casino floors and generally not sticking to the old rules in place for under 21%26#39;s.
I even had some woman with 3 kids under 5 stand watching me playing a machine (she wasn%26#39;t on the carpet area) who %26#39;tutted%26#39; when I lit!
Maybe it%26#39;s just me but I can%26#39;t see why parents would want to take there kids to the gambling,drinking,smoking capital of the world......whats wrong with Disneyland?
Kid's in LV !!';Maybe it%26#39;s just me but I can%26#39;t see why parents would want to take there kids to the gambling,drinking,smoking capital of the world......';
Maybe it%26#39;s just me, but I can%26#39;t see why anyone would want to start a thread on this tired old subject that%26#39;s been done to death...
Kid's in LV !!Maybe because i%26#39;ve read about it but never realised it%26#39;s as bad as it is now as this was my 1st visit in 2 years..
If your so tired of it don%26#39;t answer my post !!
Here are some possible reasons that parents take their kids to Vegas:
1. Training for the future. If you take them now, you precondition them for adulthood. When they become adults, they are more likely to take you (the parent) to Vegas.
2. Good luck charms. Studies show that kids actually bring parents good luck.
3. High babysitter costs. There has been a recent push to have the parents pay employee benfit for the babysitter. They are being asked to contribute to the 401k, medical insurance, dental, and the prom dress.
4. The kids are closer to the ground and parents can use their eyes to scope out credits left on the machines. A few nice catches and dinner is paid for.
5. They stay free in the hotel and can act as guard dogs for your valuables. This is something new and it was brought about by the rise of thefts from the rooms.
I know there%26#39;s others but I getting tired right now. Someone ';bail me out';, please.
I agree with IrishFan and MrNotti. My take on this subject: not my kids, not my problem,not my responsibility and definitely not my business!
Which hotel did you stay in? In all the times I have been to vegas, there always have seemed to be lots of kid when you are out on the street or in the hotel lobbys, etc.
That said, I don%26#39;t remember ever having been aware that lots of kids were in the actualy casino areas where the table games or slots are located. Always food courts and shopping areas have lots of kids but that is what I would expect since people who take their children are doing the things necessary to entertain them.
I just have never seen a kid problem in the playing areas.
Wow kids in Vegas, you do know that kids actually live in the ';gambling,drinking,smoking capital of the world'; There are about 2 million residents in the Metro Vegas area, its not an over 21 community.
';I even had some woman with 3 kids under 5 stand watching me playing a machine (she wasn%26#39;t on the carpet area) who %26#39;tutted%26#39; when I lit!';
You should have turned around and addressed her. She would have really had something to tut about when I got done with her. I know a lot of people like to say that it is educational to bring kids to LV. Well that would have given them 2 lessons in one: this is what happens when you break the casino%26#39;s rules and this is what happens when you mind other people%26#39;s business. Oh, and I just love the argument that kids live in LV! I guarantee that most of the kids you saw where not residents. Gambling and smoking wouldn%26#39;t amaze their parents so much if they were.
We stayed at Harrah%26#39;s and had kids running through the slot area constantly, without going on ...our friend nearly fellover a buggy parked behind her slot chair in the Vanetian while the mum was playing and we watched a security guard telling someone with kids to move of the gaming area or he would fine them 3 times in Treasure Island.
It just felt in general the kids were going / doing what they liked this time.
