Skylofts Honeymoon

Hello

I wonder if anybody could please help me with a few queries that I have.

We are spending our honeymoon in Las Vegas and will be staying at the Skylofts in MGM for 6 nights.

Does anyone have any previous experiences with the Skylofts - is there anything I need to know or should know about the skylofts before we leave. Also - does anyone know what sort of things can you ask the butler to do for you - for example could I ask them to go to Macdonalds to get my lunch, or are they only able to do things that are on the MGM site ?

Can you recommend a romantic bar/place where we can go to sit down for a few drinks with a live pianist playing in the background that is located on the strip, with preferable good views ?

Please can somone also reccomend some nice romantic restuarants that we could visit during our time in vegas.

I have been to Vegas once before, however we did not visit any of the more luxorius hotels/resturants and were only there for 2 days.

Your help, views and opinions would be greatly apprecated.

Thanks

Skylofts Honeymoon

First of all, congratulations on your impending marriage! Lucky you for being able to honeymoon in Vegas and stay in the beautiful Skylofts.

We stayed with friends in a Skyloft one, but it was before they were redone and became Skylofts, there was butler service then, though. More or less, the butler is there to help with any requests that might make your stay there as enjoyable as possible. I do know that when a cocktail party was planned in the suite, the butler did all of the arrangements for that. McD%26#39;s? Not so sure about that request. However, there is one in the food court on the main floor of the MGM.

Romantic and/or beauitful and very special restaurants? I am sure that many here will give some wonderful recommendations.

For a lovely lunch, I would recommend Olive%26#39;s at Bellagio. For a wonderful dinner out, Alize at the Palms has wonderful views of the city ad the food and service are excellent there.

Prime at Bellagio is beautiful and elegant. Food is delicious and service excellent. They also have their own private patio with a few tables there. It is lovely and you can sit out there for after dinner coffee, dessert and/or drinks. It is romantic there and you have a front row seat to watch the beautiful Bellagio fountains. The fountain shows are outstanding, number 1 attraction in Vegas but from the patio you can see it without being in a crowd of people. If you make a reservation there, request to have after dinner items out on the patio and when arriving for your reservation, mention that request when you arrive at the restaurant.

Picasso at Bellagio is another amazing restaurant, lovely to dine with beautiful paintings to look at. They also have a private patio.

Mix has outstanding views and if you don%26#39;t want to dine there, go for drinks and enjoy the views.

You might enjoy the Baccarat Bar at Bellagio, it%26#39;s a beautiful hotel and casino, the bar however does not have a view other than of the casino, a wonderful place to people watch though.

Parasol Down bar at the Wynn is another place where you can enjoy both a beautiful hotel and surroundings but also their light show and waterfall. It is casual but the Wynn is beautiful and a must see hotel and casino.

Skylofts Honeymoon

Congratulations to you.

I, too, stayed in the Penthouses before they were remodeled into the skylofts. The real power for getting whatever you want is with the concierge on the floor. We had a couple of requests and the butler wasn%26#39;t able to meet those requests. When I spoke to the concierge, she informed me to always come to her. Both of my special requests were met, and met quickly.

Which brings me to tipping. Back then they gave us envelopes for the maid, butler, and concierge. Those were to be handed back at the end of the stay.

Have a wonderful stay in the MGM, and hope all the romance is remembered forever....

I believe there is a pianist playing music in the bellagio and you can have a drink and listen but you would just have a view of the casino.

The Fontana lounge I believe has a live band (sorry not a pianist) where you could have drinks and have a beautiful view of the fountains.

Baccarat Bar at Bellagio has a pianist and the right atmosphere, but view of casino only. Fontana Lounge has view, but usually more uptempo live music. Suggest you check out both.

Is there anything you should know? One mistake I made was that I didn%26#39;t ask them to put my wife%26#39;s name on the stationary. The reservation was in my name, so it was the only one on the cards %26amp; stationary. I would ask for both names to be included.

The fridge comes stocked with a mixture of beverages, but if you have a favorite let them know and they will make sure it is included (my wife likes Iced Tea).

As mentioned the concierge will provide more services than the butler. And if you have a reservation you should already have one assigned and should have been contacted. Don%26#39;t be afraid to ask the concierge any questions or for any service, they are amazing.

We didn%26#39;t use the butler for much and didn%26#39;t use the suite to entertain. He will take care of your laundry, unpack %26amp; pack if you desire, and serve in-suite meals. He does not keep the suite stocked, they have a lady who stops by a few times a day for this. If you wish you can dine from 5 of the MGM restaurants in your suite (a menu is provided) in addition to standard room service.

The one thing we did need the butler for was breakfast at the Mansion. Skyloft guests are allowed to have breakfast in the Mansion Atrium (make reservations with the concierge) but must be escorted to and from by their butler. I highly recommend this one morning. A wonderful experience in a beautiful setting.

One warning. The service is unbelievable, many people will be coming into your suite during the day. Make sure you use the ';please don%26#39;t enter'; button if you don%26#39;t want to be disturbed.

I strongly second the recommendation of Alize for a romantic dinner. Make a reservation through the Skyloft concierge, and ask her to request a nice window table.

I asked others for advice regarding Skylofts (tipping, free services %26amp; ameneties, etc) even though I am a frequent LV visitor. So I will gladly return the favor. If you have any specific questions don%26#39;t hesitate to ask.

Great added info Ktinca, thank you. Had no clue you could dine at the Mansion!

(If you said so before I forgot!)

If you do go to Alize (great choice), make sure the concierge arranges for transport via the Maybach.

Thank you all so much for the congratulations, advice and the recommendations.

The Alize looks fantastic and is just the sort of place that I had in mind, I will definatly book a table here one evening.

People watching at the Baccarat bar sounds like fun, I%26#39;ll check that out too.

Does anybody have more information on the Mansion breakfasts, ive not heard of this before? Does anyone know of a link to a menu? How exclusive (and expensive) is this place?! Can you have evening meals there as well?

What sort of prices do they charge for rides in the Maybach ?

With regards to tipping - Do people tend to tip at the end of the stay, or at the end of each day, or every time you get them to do something for you? Id prefer to leave them an envelope at the end of my stay, otherwise I would be tipping them every 15 minutes.

Please can somebody explain to me about the Skyloft stationary as well - I may sound dumb here - but what is the point of this? Is it just Business cards, letter heads etc...etc...don’t get me wrong I will make sure that my wife’s name is put on it, but just wondered what is the point of having the stationary, has anyone actually every used it ?

Thanks for the heads up on the ';do not disturb'; sign - some potential embarrassing moments have just been saved lol !!! Thank you

Sorry for so many questions, I just want to be sure that I know as much as possible before I go and thanks again to everyone for all your help and advice.

i hope i don%26#39;t sound rude .But if you can afford skyloft suite, why do you worry about tipping ,and i don%26#39;t get asking about Mcdonalds Or the cost of dining. Only a selacted few can afford skyloft suites especially for 6 nights. WISH YOU BOTH THE BEST.

Most every question you just asked can be answered by your concierge once you arrive. They are there to answer your every whim. Sit down with one and they%26#39;ll answer each and every one. I received last minute 4th or 6th row aisle seats to The Smother%26#39;s Brothers at the Hilton, so they do have great contacts.

The names on the papers is just a cute added bonus. If that%26#39;s important to you, call and make sure ahead of time.
