Hi, I am thinking about a 6 night stay for my 2nd visit in 5 years to LV. My wife and I (she 34, me 39) play Video Poker; DB, DDB $ J/B. Appears that the South Point has a very good selection of these games. Can anyone varify this and your thoughts about this property as a whole is appreciated.
South Point opinions
Paul, see my other reply re the good vp. The SP rooms are good-sized with a nice flat panel. With the opening of the new tower a few months ago, they have more rooms to fill so you should be able to get a good deal. Check out their website, plus FatWallet, etc. to see what%26#39;s out there. Also, if you two play enough vp, you should see a host to see what can be comped. I%26#39;ve only eaten at the coffee shop, which is decent, and the buffet, which is good for breakfast but average for the other meals. Oh, and ask for a room higher up if you want any type of view - some of the rooms on the lower floor look out at a wall. Unless you like walls, that is.
South Point opinions
Paul, you probably already know that it is a long way from the main strip, right? Check to see if their free shuttle is still running to the strip and the airport. Sinc your%26#39;re staying for 6 days, I strongly suggest you rent a car for at least part of that time. Parking is really a breeze there. The expressway runs behind the property and there is good accessibility to it. We got upgraded to a suite ($20 trick worked) and it was clean and spacious.
We had breakfast at the buffet and it was good-we would do that again. We had a lite dinner at the diner there and the food was decent I ended up double tipping (almost 35%) because the cashier took it upon herself to figure in the tip. I had left a cash tip on the counter already. That was my fault for not paying attention. They have a horse stable there and someone started a rumor that when Prince Charles was inVegas, they let him board Camille there-I don%26#39;t know if that true).
I would definitely stay again at this property.
Thanks. All great info. We will be visiting for my 40th birthday in Mid December. I will rent a car because I%26#39;d like to do some day trips for example to Valley of Fire.
Paul, I don%26#39;t know if they willallow you to take advantage of the offer they sent me but I%26#39;ll give you the code if you want to try. From Dec. 14 to 23 , they are offering rates of #29 a night (DECSP408).
Phone 1-866-482-8847 When (if) you call them, tell the reservation agent if she%26#39;ll send you the promo card. They did that for me once since I needed to present it upon check in.
We just returned last week from a seven night stay. This was our third trip to the hotel. After having been to Vegas many times, we love the serenity that can be found at this hotel. The casino can get busy, especially on the weekends, but the hotel itself is very quiet. Venturing out to the pool area is short and quick, not like some half mile walks at other hotels. The restaurants were all good and reasonably priced. Our favorite is Primarily Prime Rib, followed by Don Vitos. Have no reservations about staying at the South Point. A rental car is not required, but having one does give you a lot of freedom.
HitchHiker%26gt;%26gt;Thanks for the code. I did try it on the website, it didn%26#39;t take it. I%26#39;ll try reservations as you suggest. I%26#39;ll let you know what happens. Expedia is offering $39 mid week 12/14-12/18. 12/19 is $52, so thats not bad either. Thanks again.
We like South Point since it is away from the hussle and bussle of the strip, the parking garage is convenient, the food is good (there is even a deli toward the southeast corner of the casino that has great sandwiches...got one and took it to the airport with us), the casino is light and clean, our room was clean, staff is great, drink service fast, and there is also a BINGO hall and livestock arena (so I be sure and check to see if there is a rodeo going on since that will probably make a difference to the availability and rates), and Mr. Ducky loves to play Pai Gow there!
The Star Wars slots near the buffet paid a lady over $3,000.00 on the machine next to me...story of my life :(
Hi Folks!
We are also thinking of visiting South Point on our next Trip in October. Basically, just as a drop in for a few hours to check it out. We are slot players, (not so much VP), and wondering about the other slot selections - Is there a good variety of games and at various denominations? We prefer the multi-line bonus type games, do they have a good selection and is there plenty available?
Is the South Point a stand alone Casino or does it have any sister properties? Any other casinos connected on the same card?
Wondering about their Players Club Card and if You feel you get a decent comp value for your gambling action? We are use to playing and staying only at the Harrahs %26amp; MGM-Mirage properties and are very pleased with their free offers and comp value. Does South Point treat their players as generously?
Thanks in advance for answering, and Paul, thanks to You for starting this post! : )
CarolinaSunny%26gt;%26gt;Your welcome. Check the SP website for the answers to most of your questions. They have a section where you can research slots, if they have them and at what denomination. I hope this thred continues as I would like to learn more as well in advance of my trip in December.
We have played (DB VP) many times at South Point but have never stayed there. That will change in a couple of weeks because we have booked our end of September trip there, and we are looking forward to that.
We found fairly good VP paytables in many machines, especially since full pay video poker is scarce in LV these days. We did eat at the buffet for dinner one night and it was, in a word, lousy.
Good luck!
