I just got back from a wonderful weekend in Las Vegas, stayed at the Wynn, wow, wow and wow!!! Everything went well, will have to post a TR when I%26#39;ve gotten some sleep.
I rented a car through Thrifty for $9.00/day for a full size car. Great deal!!! I forgot to get the gas tank filled before dropping off the car, and because I was in a hurry I figured I would just pay for the gas. HUGE MISTAKE!! I%26#39;ve done that before %26amp; usually it%26#39;s like $1 or $1.50/gallon more than they charge at the pump but they charged me $6.99/gallon!!!!!
So for all those renting cars, make sure you find a gas station!!!
Gas $$$$!!!!!!!!
highway robbery there is a gas station about 1/4 mile from the car rental dropoff site but they do jack up the prices thankfully no where near 6 bucks a gallon
sorry you were ripped off but glad you enjoyed your stay!
Gas $$$$!!!!!!!!
Oh No!!! Thats like three times the price per gallon, even more!! Your post will hopefully remind others to not forget.
Ouch! That certainly hurts! I guess you learned your lesson the hard way. Thanks for reminding the rest of us how important this is to do before returning the car.
Glad this didn%26#39;t spoil your trip. Looking forward to your TR.
Wow, that is a huge convenience charge! I hope you weren%26#39;t on E!
OMG!!!! There has to be some kind of law(or should be) against that!!! I am driving a rental car right now, because someone decided it would be ok to hit my new car. While their insurance company is paying for it, I guess I will be nice and put normal priced gas in it before I return it.
Sorry this happened to you.
Pardon me for asking, but did the really charge you $6.99 for each gallon, or a $6.99 charge plus the regular price for each gallon after that? I%26#39;m just shocked that it was THAT expensive. I know when I just rented from Budget they told me that if I did not return the car with a full tank they would charge a $6.99 flat fee plus the going rate for each gallon.
This was a VERY expensive lesson to learn, it will never happen again ';FER SHER';!!!!
Mailgirl, I just went %26amp; looked at the receipt to make sure because $6.99 flat fee would certainly be fair but the total charge for gas was $31.46 and I returned it 3/4 full. I should have verified it before leaving but I%26#39;m a Blue chip member %26amp; I used the express check out. I%26#39;m going to call tomorrow to check it out. I hope it was a mistake.
Good luck. Sometimes it works out. I made the mistake of not finding a gas station near the airport in Orlando and not filling the tank up one time. The guy that checked out the car actually let it go (I know, shocking!). Now I always scope out the locations after picking up the car. Luckily there%26#39;s one right on Las Vegas Blvd before you turn to get to the car rental facility.
When you picked up the car and signed the rental agreement the terms are disclosed. What does your rental contract say about this? I bet this should not have neen a surprise.
The last line of your post should read:
So for all those renting cars, make sure you read your rental contract and understand the T%26#39;s %26amp; C%26#39;s.
Not everyone would care about the $$$ if time were an issue, therefore finding a gas station is not everyone%26#39;s priority.
Know what you signed - no surprises.
