any comments on the Riviera

First time in Vegas - going to be staying at the Riviera from 1/28 - 2-1.

I have read mixed reviews and was wondering what to expect.

Thanks.

Well, you%26#39;ve chosen one of the oldest and most run-down of the major casino properties, in a location that isn%26#39;t terribly convenient to much. So that%26#39;s what you should expect. Doesn%26#39;t mean you can%26#39;t have a good stay.

I%26#39;d stop reading reviews if I were you though. You%26#39;re going to read a lot of bad ones from people who don%26#39;t do any research before they book and were expecting the Riviera to be like Bellagio.

It has been too long since I have stayed at the Riviera so I can%26#39;t comment on the rooms. However- for me it would be too far north to stay there without a car (which I always have). Since this is your first time in Vegas I would suggest you try to find something more centrally located (near Flamingo and the strip) so you can get to the attractions, casinos, shows and restaurants most people visit Vegas to experience.

Hey Olddog, and Welcome!

I thought I recently read somewhere (other than TA) that some of the rooms have been renovated recently. You might want to ask the Hotel directly, but hopefully, someone here on the Forum has recently stayed there. Hopefully, my recall is correct, most definitely request a renovated room in case all the rooms have not been. Have a great stay, enjoy Vegas, Youre countdown is a short one now! :)

From this search and little blurb it appears so, you should be fine!

In all of our trips to Vegas, The Riveara was 1 casino we had never visited along with Circus Circus. Last Trip in August we walked from Venetian to Circus Circus, walked in and pretty much left right away. We wanted to see The Riveara as it has so much history. Boy were we disappointed. What a dump and we usually like the lower ends. Nobody was friendly. We signed up for a card and you felt as though you were inconveniencing the workers. We played for maybe 1/2 hour and walked next door to the Peppermill which was much more fun! At least it is close to that.

Just ask for an upgrade and tell them you know JackTarLover!

HTR.....that roll was the most action the Riv has seen in awhile!

My husband and I stayed at the Riv on our first trip to vegas which was 2 years ago. I did not post any reviews b/c I did not know about TA back then ( how awful !!) the hotel rooms were far from the parking the casino smelled horrible. I do have to say though that our room was very clean though very outdated. our view was facing some sort of exhaust but what really turned me off was that our room had sharps boxes !! I am a RN so I%26#39;m used to them but not only was this scary but a big turn off for me. Never again will I stay at the Riv. The ups though was we had a fabulous time. I%26#39;ve learned thanks to TA and all the wonderful help that there are many other places that are better located and at a cheaper rate. I hope this helps.

What%26#39;s with the inactive user thing? Were the reviews that bad?

Although I have never stayed there, we had a bit of free play there, so we took advantage of it. First we had to get a player%26#39;s card and we had to find someone to help us. We didn%26#39;t stay very long because the casino smelled so bad. Sorry, but I that was our impression.
