Traffic from LA to LV

Arriving in LA Tuesday 1.30pm

Assuming we hit the road at about 3.00pm with THE rental car, what will the traffic be like getting out of LA and on to LV?

Traffic from LA to LV

Luckily for you you aren%26#39;t leaving on a Friday. That said leaving at 3pm will be better than leaving at 4 or 5pm from LAX, but you still will hit traffic all the way out of SoCal until you get up into Victorville.

My advice, get in the car and get on the road as quick as you can. If you are hungry Id hold off until you get out to the desert because literally every minute you are later into rush hour will increase the traffic you hit.

My advice is be patient - leaving the airport at that time of day can possibly be a challenge. LA traffic starts early and hits hard - and about 3 is when the madness begins. Sorry to report...

I repeat the advice above, don%26#39;t stop until you%26#39;re out of the city - just keep moving.

Good luck!

IMO you will hit traffic until you get to the 15 FWY. It might take you 2 hrs to get to the 15 depending on your route. Unfortunately those that work in LA but live in San Bernardino and other places out East are leaving work and trying to get home during the 3 o%26#39;clock hr. Plus you have to take inconsideration what time you will leave the car rental lot. I say in the worst case scenario, if you hit the road by 4pm you should be in Vegas no later than 9 or 10pm.

Have you priced out flying on Southwest? Might be worth saving a lot of aggravation.

If you%26#39;re arriving at LAX on a flight from the UK I wouldn%26#39;t recommend jumping straight in a car and driving to Vegas. I live in SoCal, am very familiar with the geography of the area and the freeways and wouldn%26#39;t do this.

Either fly to Vegas or stay overnight some place within an hour or so of LAX.

We%26#39;re thinking similarly, Blagger, but where will an hour out towards LV put him? Nowhere. (Or at least nowhere exciting for a visitor). Why not stay right in Santa Monica or Marina Del Rey and enjoy the ocean for a day first? Also, there is no guarantee your flight will arrive on time - what if you actually arrive at 3 - the traffic will be beyond terrible.

Good points Warmwinds. Makes total sense.

Yes I agree that the traffic after 3 pm will be very slow going. Id chill somewhere until about 630 pm then head out. If you do that you should be in Vegas about 10 pm or so.
