staying north end strip

I have been reading o recent post, someone staying at the Stratosphere, and a large number of replies, advise to change locations,as is in dodgy neighberhood,. I have exchanged a week time share to go to Hilton vacation club on the strip, for a week in May,and now I am a bit concerned,as I think it is in the same locality,as the Strat. We are not young, and I don,t want to be worried all the time. Is it really that bade an area. The Hilton vacation club seems to get o.k. write up,s. Any advise please

staying north end strip

I am a female and stayed at the Stratosphere by myself recently and did not have any problems. That said the area on that end of the strip is definitely not as nice and that is what people are talking about.

There is not as much to do on that side of the strip. Are you renting a car? If not you may end up taking a lot of cabs or riding the bus to do things on the other end of the strip.

I looked at the Hilton vacation club website and it looks very nice.

Plan to rent a car, the Hilton and the Strat themselves are not that bad but you dont want to walk around off the property and you never know who is waiting at bus stops up north. and its way too far to hoof it to the Wynn, Venetian, TI.

Or cab it to the Sahara and then take the monorail to points south....

The Hilton Vacation Club appears to be much closer to Circus Circus and the Sahara Hotel, so it is not in such a bad area compared to the Stratosphere. I think you don%26#39;t have much to worry about as far as your safety goes. Just avoid walking alone late at night and you should be fine.

The main problem with the northern part of the strip- it is far away from the shows, restaurants, casinos, attractions that most people come to Vegas to see and experience. If you don%26#39;t have a car you are going to have to take a sometimes slow and crowded bus, walk a lot or take cabs. You can take the monorail from Sahara but it is not cheap and many of the stations are set way back from the strip so it is a hike to get to the strip when you get off the monorail.

The stratosphere itself is nice. They area around it is the beginning of a non casino type area so you will get some seedy businesses and people there.

If you want to go anywhere simply walk towards the Sahara, a few blocks, or hop in a cab. Its a short ride to the Wynn or Venetian.

I dont imagine you are going to want to hang around outside the place much anyway.

Just relax and have fun.

The Strat is a safe area. There are many, many people walking all hours of the night. Security and police around just like center strip. Speaking of seedy people, there are no porn slappers at the Strat. Like any other city or any area of LV, including the strip, be aware and you will be fine.

Hi Brian

It was my post that people replied to about not staying in the Stratosphere. After so many replies I have to say I did change my hotel after many comments on it not being a very safe area and to change hotels. As it is our first time in Vegas, I wanted to ensure that it went as smoothly as possible.

Hopefully people who have been there will be able to answer your query and set your mind to rest.

Em
