First Time to Vegas - any tips

Hi all

We are off to Las Vegas in early March for the first time. Does anyone have any tips such as must do%26#39;s, must eat%26#39;s, must see%26#39;s and must don%26#39;ts? We are there for 4 days Wed to Sun. Staying at The Stratosphere (I love the look of the thrill rides).

Thanks

Emma

First Time to Vegas - any tips

Do bring comfortable shoes. Regardless of where one stays (and the Strat isn%26#39;t in the most convenient of locations) you%26#39;ll do a lot more walking than you think you will.

Don%26#39;t go wandering around the back streets around the Strat area, particularly after dark. There%26#39;s a rather grim housing project in that neighbourhood.

In fact the best advice I can give you (if you haven%26#39;t already got the message!) is to change hotels to one more centrally located on the strip.

First Time to Vegas - any tips

Must do - wear comfortable shoes (you do LOTS of walking in Vegas) and make sure you walk the Strip at least once...that way you%26#39;ll get to see all the beautiful sights along the way!

Must eat - WYNN buffet...it%26#39;s delicious!!

Must see - Bellagio Fountains at night...they are BREATHTAKING!

Must don%26#39;t - don%26#39;t stay at the Stratosphere (sorry!)!

Hope you have a GREAT trip!!

Hi Emma,

My best advice really would be consider staying somewhere other than Stratosphere and just go there to do the thrill rides but stay in a more central location on the Strip.

I haven%26#39;t stayed there so I don%26#39;t have first-hand experience. But based on hearing from friends who have stayed there and based on what I%26#39;ve read here, I wouldn%26#39;t stay there.

I know the prices are low, but for just a little bit more I think you could find something more mid-Strip that would be a lot more convenient to see the sights and also would be a lot safer to walk around at night.

Find out exactly where the %26#39;Welcome to the Fabulous Las Vegas%26#39; sign is and get your picture taken underneath it.

I completely agree with the comment about the Bellagio fountains (they are beautiful).

I think they are every 20 minutes (i.e. on the hour, 20 past, 20 to the hour) - anyone confirm this for Angelus?

I would agree with everyone else on two things...

1. Comfy shoes!

2. Being it%26#39;s your first time to Vegas you should stay on the strip where everything is within walking distance.

I%26#39;ve never even been to the Strat so I can%26#39;t comment on it specifically, other than it%26#39;s location. Which is probably why I%26#39;ve never been there, it%26#39;s just not convenient if you are staying on the strip.

Hi Emma,

First time on the strip...try to get mid-strip...Paris, Bally%26#39;sor Bill%26#39;s all center strip and great for walking. Maybe you can change your room? Joe

Be prepared for the timeshare people. You%26#39;re either going to do it, in which case, you need to find out which one gives you more bang for your time, or you%26#39;re not going to do them, in which case you need to be prepared with your pat response.

I think the best place to watch the Bellagio fountains is from the top of the Eiffel Tower. If you sign up for the Harr%26#39;s players card, you should get a coupon book and there are 2-4-1 rides to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Also, make sure to sign up for players cards everywhere, and use them. When you sign up, you will get free gifts, coupon books, or free slot play.

I would also recommend changing hotels. Even the south strip is better. My mother did like the Stratosphere, but the only thing she did that time when staying there was gamble at Stratosphere and gamble at Sahara.

When in March will u be there? Imperial Palace is a far better location, with likely similar rates.

Agree w/ all of above...

Go to all the casinos and see all the theming %26amp; sites for free!

Hi all

Thanks so much for your replies. mmmmm starting to think the Strat may not be a wise choice. Yes its booked through Expedia (today) and I believe I may be able to call to amend hotel. Any recommends?

We are going 4th - 8th March.

Will definitely take comfy shoes. Bellagio fountains now on list to do.
